‘Ed's Room’ is an immersive sound and light experience, with an acute importance placed on outstanding sound and preparation of the environment in which it is created. Held in intimate venues, the performance is comprised of Ed Zuccollo's musical creation using both produced and improvised elements, and Nic Cave-Lynch's beautiful and synergistic live lighting design.
“Ed is incredibly sensitive to musical synergy ... has a great ear for many genres of music [and an] insatiable quest for sonic quality”
— Warren Maxwell (Trinity Roots, Little Bushman)
The first iteration of Ed's Room was a series of four dates over November and December 2017. Held in Ed's home studio, appropriately fitted out with 18 lights, a hazer and high quality surround sound for an audience of twelve seated comfortably on couches and beanbags. The intention...to create a space where both time and spacial perception distorted, allowing different moods to be explored and enabling the time for intensity to build over an extended period.
“... his insane musicality and intuitive understanding of synthesizers is nothing short of astonishing.”
— Rhian Sheehan
The show progressively builds with no breaks in sound, ranging from solo dream piano and radio communications from Apollo missions, to searing rhythmic synthesiser pieces and long form simmering electronica pieces utilising a variety of acoustic, electronic, electro-mechanical instruments and live effects. Presented in association with Momo.
